Fin Min to set up strategic investment fund under NIIF

The finance ministry is planning to set up a fund under the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) dedicated for strategic investments. Earlier this year, the NIIF kick-started its funding activity with a global operator of marine and inland terminals DP World by creating a platform for investing up to USD 3 billion in ports and logistics.

Govt supportive of social media, but won't allow data abuse: Prasad

Digital India:Panchkula to have 11 free Wi-Fi zones

Petrol prices rise for 14th straight day; cross Rs 78 mark in Delhi

Wi-Fi adds wing to BharatNet, data usage jumps 190% in villages

The launch of Wi-Fi hotspots under the rural broadband project 'BharatNet' has seen 190% jump in data usage to 95 terabytes in six-months of the service. A DoT report said that as on April 30 this year, 190% increase in data consumption has been recorded during the last six-months in rural areas where broadband internet is provided through Wi-Fi hotspots running on BharatNet Infrastructure.

EPFO cuts administrative charges; firms to save Rs 900 crore

Now over 5 lakh employers together would save around Rs.900 crore annually following the retirement fund body EPFO's decision to cut administrative charges, with effect from June 1, 2018. The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation's (EPFO) trustees had decided to cut the administrative charges to 0.50 percent from 0.65 percent of total wage paid by employers in its meeting on February 21, 2018.
